The Outbound Tour Operators Association of India (OTOAI) is all set for its highly anticipated Convention in Nairobi, Kenya, from November 24 to 27, 2023 — the first-ever tourism convention of such kind from India in Kenya, adding an extra layer of excitement. Let's dig deep.

THE CURTAIN RAISER

Riaz Munshi, OTOAI President, expresses enthusiasm, stating, "This Convention, after a three-year hiatus, in the undiscovered destination of Kenya, promises an unforgettable experience with our official hotel partner, Sarova Hotels & Resorts, and ground handlers One Above."

Shravan Bhalla, OTOAI Vice President and Convention Chairman, shares, "Our supporting airline partners, Air India and Kenya Airways, are on board. Registration opened on World Tourism Day, September 27, with expectations of 200 quality delegates. Mandatory Yellow Fever & Polio Drop vaccinations are required for travelers to Kenya."

Mita Vohra, Director of Sarova Hotels & Resorts Kenya, expresses excitement about hosting a large delegation, while Directors of One Above, Irshad Ali and Vishal Somaiya, express confidence in Kenya as an ideal venue.

The Association has curated an enticing package for OTOAI delegates, with attractive familiarisation trips covering Nakuru, Mara, Shaba regions, and a Nairobi experience.

SOARING DEMAND OF AFRICA FROM THE INDIANS

The Convention in Nairobi aligns with a growing trend among Indian tourists turning towards African destinations. Africa's diverse landscapes, rich wildlife, and unique cultural experiences have become enticing options for Indian travelers seeking offbeat adventures. Kenya, at the forefront of this trend, exemplifies a destination blending adventure and cultural exploration.

KENYA: A TESTAMENT TO THE ALLURE

Kenya's magnetic allure swiftly makes it a premier attraction for Indian outbound travelers. Nairobi as the OTOAI Convention venue underscores the growing fascination for Kenya. Renowned for wildlife safaris and picturesque landscapes, Kenya offers a blend of adventure, cultural richness, and warm hospitality.

SHOWCASING KENYA'S MARVELS TO INDIA

The OTOAI Convention in Nairobi provides a strategic platform for Kenya to showcase its tourism potential to Indian outbound tour operators. The convention fosters collaborations, forging partnerships, and opening avenues for increased tourist inflow.

MAGICAL MYTH OF MASAI MARA

Masai Mara's enchanting landscapes and rich biodiversity captivate Indian tourists. The annual Great Migration, diverse ecosystem, and vibrant Maasai culture make it a must-visit destination for Indian travelers seeking adventure, wildlife, and cultural exploration.

OTOAI: A GROWTH CATALYST FOR KENYA’S TOURISM

The Convention will act as a knowledge hub, offering valuable insights and networking opportunities for Indian outbound tour operators. It will promote collaborations, innovative itineraries, and will showcase expertise, contributing to the growth and diversification of the Indian outbound travel market.

THE RACE TO ATTRACT INDIAN TOURISTS

Healthy competition between Kenya and other African destinations benefits Indian travelers, offering diverse options. Each destination competes to enhance offerings, infrastructure, and hospitality, fostering collaborations and partnerships between destinations and tour operators.

SKY BRIDGES: AIR INDIA & KENYA AIRWAYS

Air India and Kenya Airways provide vital air connectivity between India and Kenya, significantly easing travel for tourists. Direct flights from major Indian cities like Delhi and Mumbai to Nairobi and Mombasa have drastically reduced travel time, making Kenya highly accessible. This collaboration not only enhances accessibility but also offers diverse flight schedules and services for Indian tourists. The competitive airline landscape will ensure affordability and flexibility, allowing travelers to explore various pricing options. With the increasing demand for travel between the two nations, the potential for more frequent flights, additional routes, and improved services will solidify the air link between India and Kenya.

NAVIGATING THE TRAVELLING HURDLES

While Kenya is a captivating destination, there are certain constraints that Indian travelers need to consider when planning a trip. One primary concern is the mandatory health requirements. Travelers to Kenya are required to obtain a Yellow Fever Vaccination at least 15 days before departure, and a certificate proving vaccination is essential. Additionally, obtaining Polio Drops Vaccination from a local physician is another mandatory requirement for travel to Kenya.

ELEVATING LUXURY HOSPITALITY

Sarova Hotels & Resorts, a hospitality giant in Kenya, provides world-class accommodations and exceptional service. With a rich history and commitment to sustainability, Sarova Hotels offers a luxurious stay, showcasing Kenya's beauty.

SAFEGUARDING ADVENTURES WITH TRAVEL INSURANCE

Travel insurance is vital, especially abroad. ASEGO has offered comprehensive travel insurance to all delegates, ensuring peace of mind for OTOAI. Protecting against unforeseen circumstances, it's an indispensable companion for a worry-free exploration.

CHARTING A SUSTAINABLE MINDFUL FUTURE: MEANINGFUL TRAVEL

As the OTOAI delegates converge in Nairobi, there is a palpable sense of hope and excitement for the future of Indian outbound tourism to this captivating destination. The collaboration not only promises a showcase of Kenya's natural wonders and cultural richness but also embodies a commitment to sustainability and responsible tourism practices.

The Asian Footprints looks forward to embarking on a mindful travel and contribute its bit during the 5th OTOAI Convention 2023 in Kenya. As a responsible travel media, it will be interesting for us to experience meaningful travel especially after the pandemic, where the exchange between Indian tourists and Kenyan hospitality will not be just transactional but will contribute to the welfare of local communities and the preservation of the environment. We also hope that this confluence will represent not only a journey to discover Kenya but also a shared commitment to shaping the future of travel through responsible and meaningful exploration.
